ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

Developing a prayer practice can take time and intention. A little guidance from someone who has experienced the joys and challenges of prayer might just make all the difference. If you are looking for creative ways to grow and enrich your prayer practice, then look no further!

Join the ISC for a four-part series and we will explore together a variety of prayer practices that you can integrate into daily living. Learn and be immersed in practical prayer experiences common in Ignatian spirituality, including:

  • The Examen of Consciousness

  • Lectio Divina

  • Ignatian Contemplation & Imagination

  • Colloquy & Gratitude Practices

Each in-person session includes facilitated learning and conversation with a season facilitator, immersion into the prayer practice, and reflection on the prayer experience as a community.  Come and learn what may become your favorite new way to pray.

This program is for anyone new to or seeking a refresher on Ignatian spirituality. All are welcome!

PLEASE NOTE: There will be no session on Monday, November 11 due to the Veterans Day holiday.

SPREAD THE WORD

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Corinne Bergmann Pann developed her love of Ignatian spirituality and was introduced to the ISC during her nine years working at Seattle University. During that time, Corinne served three years on the ISC Program Council and was then invited to the ISC Board, where she served on the Strategic Planning Team creating the Strategic Directions that guide the ISC.

Corinne has completed the Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life (SEEL) twice, participated in the Arrupe Seminar learning the history of the Society of Jesus, and has taken part in countless Ignatian spirituality retreats and programs. As a rare Seattle native, she loves the beauty of the Pacific Northwest water and mountains. Her best-loved role is mom to her three children, and she cherishes time with family and friends.

Linda Lou Miller-Bever has been involved as a Spiritual Director/Companion through SEEL (Spiritual Exercises of Everyday Life) for over 20 years. She currently co-facilitates Discerners and Interns who are desiring to join the SEEL Team. Linda Lou has been married for 32 years with one adult son. She has had numerous pets who have taught her more about the Divine than any human. Linda Lou goes on daily walks with her husband while on the lookout for bunnies and deer. She explores creation spirituality. She is an avid reader and hoarder of books as evidenced by all the stacks around the house – some of her favorite authors are Richard Rohr, Maribai Starr, Amy Jill Levine and John Philip Newell. Linda Lou is a Dominican Associate and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Marymount Manor. She is in the process of retiring after 38 years within Catholic Community Services-Family Behavioral Health. Linda Lou holds a Master’s in Social Work.

John Hickman’s spirituality centers on living out the call of the Gospel in everyday life. After 25 years in business, he began to explore Ignatian Spirituality, searching his desire to “build God’s Kingdom here and now.” An immersion trip to El Salvador convinced him he needed to work with the poor and vulnerable, which led to working for Catholic Community Services until his retirement. John is a spiritual director working with SEEL (Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life), and has been a frequent presenter for ISC programs. He Chairs the Board for the Intercommunity Peace and Justice Center. John is married, with three grown children, and two grandchildren—Oscar and Francis—who get a ton of John’s attention. His hobbies include golf and bird watching. The first hobby is a total confrontation with oneself, while the second one reveals God’s gift of creation in surprising and wonderful ways.

Matt Holland spent 17 years with the Society of Jesus and is now married and teaching Theology at Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien, Washington. He has lived in Guatemala and Colombia, likes to go hiking and camping, and likes to read. He is a spiritual director with SEEL Puget Sound (the Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life).
